Steven James Ingman, born in 1984, spent his childhood in the small farming village of Misson situated on the border between Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire.
He discovered his love for art at the Elizabethan High School in Retford, progressing to Lincoln University, gaining an Honours degree in Fine Art. Upon graduation he was awarded the Purchase Prize, one of his paintings now resides in the University collection.
Ingman’s first professional show completely sold out and in 2008, his work was voted ‘best in show’ in the exhibition Fresh 2 in Nottingham. Winning the Derby Open later that year he was awarded a solo show for 2010 at the Derby City Museum and Art Gallery. In 2009, Arts Council England awarded him a one-year bursary to support the creation of new work for this exhibition. Steven Ingman lives and works in Nottingham.
